Friday of Tech Trek

My favorite moment at camp has been hanging out in my dorm room. My room and suite mates were so cool and had such fun stories. We would talk in the morning while getting ready and before lights out at 10:00pm. We were in the same core classes and a few workshops which created a great bond between us. I made a few other good friends from Albuquerque and i plan to see them again. Along with meeting my friends in my dorm, I enjoyed just getting some space by myself to do nothing for a little while. On Thursday night, my roommate had to leave and all my friends came over. As a joke they locked my friend and me out of my dorm without a key; when my suite mate unlocked her door, we jumped out and she screamed so loud! Out of my whole experience, that is what I will miss most, having a friend a door knock away.

Tuesday of Tech Trek

My core class today was life science. It was the best class I've taken so far. We extracted DNA from a strawberry, tried to find our lip, thumb, bite prints and tried to match others prints to a crime picture.
My first workshop today was Making Slime and Penny Bridges. We made slime with glue, color dye, water and borax. We also made a bridge that was ten pennies high, two pennies across and had to put as many pennies on top as we could. My group got to 33 high.
My next workshop was Soil Science. We put soil in containers with two different color dyes: blue and yellow. The yellow normally was the same color however ours was clear like the blue. We then made mud and got to play with it. it seems like it would be a great experience to become a soil scientist and get paid to play with mud.
Five positive things about myself are:
  1. I have pretty eyes
  2. I am a good public speaker
  3. I am a good athlete
  4. I am good at math
  5. I am fabulous at making connections
